European Commission proposes making violation of sanctions an EU crime

The European Commission said in a statement on Wednesday that it wants to make violating EU sanctions a crime in the bloc, and is also proposing new measures that would make it easier for member states to confiscate and freeze assets of sanctioned Russian individuals and entities.
