The Philippine Congress on Wednesday officially proclaimed Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the 17th president of the country.

Marcos, son of former president Ferdinand Marcos and popularly known as Bongbong, easily defeated incumbent Vice President Maria Leonor Robredo in presidential elections earlier this month.

Marcos is due to be inaugurated on June 30.
