South Korea says the Democratic People's Republic of Korea fired three ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan. Seoul condemned the missile launches and called them a "grave provocation". The firing of the ballistic missiles comes just one day after U.S. President Joe Biden wrapped up his first visit to Asia where he pledged to ramp up military drills with Seoul. South Korea said the missile launches all occurred within an hour of each other. While the U.S. and South Korea have offered to send Covid vaccines to the DPRK and diplomatically engage with its leadership, Washington has continued to push for more sanctions on Pyongyang.
