Russian President Vladimir Putin "will not win the war in Ukraine," German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Thursday, assessing that Putin has already failed in all of his strategic aims. 

Putin "underestimated" the "resolve and strength" of allies in countering his "aggression" in Ukraine, said Scholz at the World Economic Forum in Davos, noting that Moscow has also now pushed Finland and Sweden to join the NATO defense alliance.

Russia has warned Finland and Sweden against joining NATO on many occasions, arguing the move would not bring stability to Europe.
