May 29, 2022 marks the 20th International Day of UN Peacekeepers. On Thursday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and others laid wreaths at the UN Headquarters in honor of the 4,200 peacekeepers who have sacrificed their lives since 1948. The UN then awarded the Dag Hammarskjold Medal to the 117 peacekeepers from 42 countries who lost their lives in 2021.

When answering the CMG reporter's question, Jean-Pierre François Renaud Lacroix, UN Under-secretary-general for Peace Operations, said the UN reaffirms 'wholehearted support' for China peacekeeping initiative.
