The timing and location of the National Rifle Association (NRA) convention has sparked outrage among critics. The meeting is being held in Houston, Texas, just few hours away from Uvalde, where an 18 year old walked into an elementary school, killing 19 children and two adults last Tuesday. As many deem the organization as largely responsible for the lack of gun control laws in the U.S., Douglass Sloan, principal of the National Capital Strategy Group and vice president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, told us how this association has so much influence over these decisions.
