Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov claimed to have taken control of the Ukrainian city of Severodonestk on Saturday. He made the claim in a message on Telegram. 

Oleksandr Striuk, head of the Severodonetsk civil military administration, said earlier on Saturday that Ukrainian forces were in a "tough defensive position" as fighting raged on the outskirts of the city, according to CNN.
