The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) recorded more than 89,500 fever cases over the 24-hour period ending at 6 p.m. on Saturday, marking the second straight day that the daily new fever cases were below 100,000, state media outlet KCNA reported on Sunday.
The DPRK has reported nearly 3.45 million fever cases since late April. Over 3.26 million people have recovered, and 186,110 are being treated, the KCNA report said.
The country disclosed its first COVID-19 case on May 12 and introduced lockdown measures nationwide.
On Sunday, Kim Jong Un, leader of the DPRK, also "guided" a consultative meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) in discussing anti-epidemic measures, KCNA said.
