Russia continues to escalate its military operation in eastern Ukraine. Moscow said it has captured the strategic town of Lyman and claimed to have surrounded the urban center of Severodonetsk. However, a Ukrainian official denied the claim that Severodonetsk has been encircled, saying government troops had repelled Russian forces from the outskirts of the key city.
