Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in Ukraine during a telephone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Kremlin says the two leaders addressed maritime security in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Putin said Russia was ready to "facilitate the unhindered sea transit of goods" in coordination with Turkey, and this also applies to grain exports from Ukrainian ports. Hours after Erdogan's call with President Putin, he spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on ensuring a safe passage of exports by sea. In a tweet, Zelenskyy said they discussed threats to food security and agreed on the need to restore peace. Erdogan said Turkey aims to help build a safe corridor for exporting Ukrainian agricultural products. Its ports have been blocked since clashes with Moscow began in February.
