Moscow does not believe Kyiv will not attack Russian territory if it receives a U.S. long-range multiple-rocket system (MLRS), Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.

U.S. President Joe Biden announced on Tuesday a new package of rocket systems for Ukraine. Amid concerns these could be used against Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Newsmax that Kyiv has no intention of attacking Russian territory.

Asked whether the Kremlin trusted Zelenskyy's words, Peskov reponded: "No," adding "in order to trust, you need to have experience of cases when these promises were kept. Unfortunately, there is no such experience at all."

Peskov also said that by supplying Ukraine with advanced missile systems, "the United States is adding fuel to the fire deliberately and on purpose."
