The Global Mercy, the world's largest civilian hospital ship, made its debut on Monday at the port of Dakar in Senegal, where it will stay for four weeks to train health professionals. The giant ship measures 174 meters long and 28.6 meters wide and has 12 decks. Its arrival coincides with the recent tragic death of 11 babies in a hospital fire that highlighted the shortcomings in Senegal's health system.
