Rescue teams are working against the clock to save 14 workers trapped since Monday in a coal mine in the northeastern Colombian municipality of Zulia after an explosion caused by a gas build-up. Gloria Catalina Gheorghe, mining safety and rescue manager at the National Mining Agency, said it was a very strong explosion with high concentrations of carbon monoxide.
