The Chinese mainland recorded 37 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, with 20 linked to local transmissions and 17 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Friday.

A total of 120 asymptomatic cases were also recorded on Thursday, and 8,622 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland is 224,208, with the death toll from COVID-19 standing at 5,226.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 332,547 (62,381 recoveries, 9,380 deaths)

Macao: 83 (82 recoveries)

Taiwan: 2,198,161 (13,742 recoveries, 2,521 deaths)
