The Chinese mainland recorded 46 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, with 21 linked to local transmissions and 25 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Saturday.

A total of 125 asymptomatic cases were also recorded on Friday, and 7,318 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland is 224,254, with the death toll from COVID-19 standing at 5,226.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 332,619 (62,437 recoveries, 9,382 deaths)

Macao: 83 (82 recoveries)

Taiwan: 2,274,666 (13,742 recoveries, 2,663 deaths)
