Gunmen who attacked a Catholic church in southwest Nigeria on Sunday killed 21 people and wounded others, AFP reported on Monday, citing a local government official.

Richard Olatunde, spokesperson for the Ondo State governor's office, told AFP that dynamite exploded inside the church in Owo town before gunmen opened fire through the windows during a service.

Earlier, the Nigerian Tribune reported that over 50 worshippers were killed during the Sunday morning attack.
