Military re-enactment parade on D-Day anniversary
00:49

A military re-enactment parade filled the Normandy town of Sainte-Mere-Eglise on Sunday to mark the 78th anniversary of D-Day. This was the first French village to be liberated from Nazi occupation. They cheered the handful of D-Day veterans wheeled through the town during Sunday's rainy parade of military vehicles and re-enactors dressed up in World War II uniforms.

The Allied Forces landed in Normandy on June 6, 1944, to strike at Nazi Germany. On that day alone, 4,414 Allied soldiers lost their lives, including 2,501 Americans. Several thousand onlookers were expected on Monday at a ceremony at the American Cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach in Colleville-sur-Mer.
