Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe met with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Friday at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. Wu Qian, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, briefed reporters after the talks. According to the spokesperson, Wei said during the talks that the one-China principle is the political foundation for China-U.S. relations. Any attempt to contain China by bringing up the Taiwan issue is doomed to fail.
