Forty-six local COVID-19 infections were reported in Beijing from midnight to 3:00 p.m. Saturday as the Chinese capital tries to rein in a new bar-linked COVID-19 outbreak.

A number of 115 infections have been found so far linked to the new cluster in over a dozen Beijing districts, Liu Xiaofeng, deputy director of the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told a daily press conference on Saturday.

An additional 6,158 people were designated as close contacts.

Beijing government has ordered epidemic prevention check in all bars, KTVs and internet cafes in light of the new outbreak.

Beijing has reported a total of 1,946 COVID-19 infections since late April.
