With 56 properties inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO, China has rich cultural, natural and mixed world heritage sources.

Over 6,200 events that publicize and showcase China's intangible cultural heritage have been launched in celebration of Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, which falls on the second Saturday of June each year.

Featuring online and offline integration, this year's events combined exhibiting and marketing, presented China's achievements in preserving and carrying forward intangible cultural heritage, and bringing them closer to people's everyday lives, especially for young people, said Hu Heping, minister of culture and tourism, at the opening ceremony on Friday.

The Jinshanling section of the Great Wall, listed as a World Cultural Heritage site as a part of the Great Wall in 1987, is open for free to all visitors on June 11. It's located at the junction of Miyun District of Beijing and Luanping County in Hebei. With picturesque scenery, this section is considered a paradise for hikers. 

The Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City was inscribed as a cultural site on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2019. The search for Liangzhu Ancient City Gate Tour was launched as a part of the festival celebration. On heritage day, visitors who complete the task can experience jade carving for free.

Longmen Grottoes, Ancient City of Ping Yao, Ancient Villages in Southern Anhui – Xidi and Hongcun and other World Heritage sites launched a wealth of online and offline activities. 

Two signature events will also begin, a visual art exhibition and a shopping festival. More than 2,300 episodes of intangible cultural heritage documentaries and videos will be screened online, and over 7,500 stores, including 1,480 from 334 counties lifted out of poverty, will join in the shopping festival.
