Remote areas of Afghanistan were more heavily attacked by U.S. drones than Kabul during the United States' 20-year presence in the country. The Tangi Valley in Wardak province, 100 kilometers southwest of Kabul, was one of the most heavily fought areas of the Afghan war due to its treacherous canyon topography.

In 2011, a U.S. CH-47 Chinook helicopter was shot down there, and 30 American soldiers died. At that time, it was the highest number of American military casualties recorded in a single incident in Afghanistan.

Mohammad Nabi lives in the Tangi Valley. Drone strikes were long a nightmare for residents of the valley; almost every house there has been hit by drones. Nabi has lost more than his home. Both his sons were killed in a night raid by the U.S. military. He has been dealing with grief ever since.
