A nine-month-old killer whale calf made its debut at the Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park on Sunday. The now re-opened park had been temporarily closed due to a wave of COVID-19 infections in the city since March. The male calf, born on Sept 10, 2021, is the first killer whale born in Shanghai. Ever since its mother was found pregnant, a team of nearly 50 people has been monitoring her health. The team stayed on the premises to look after the mother and calf during the three months of shutdown.
