The 50th regular session of United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) began at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on Monday, with High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet addressing the opening ceremony.

Bachelet said that she will not seek a new four-year term.

She also reiterated her call to Israel for an urgent investigation over the killing of the journalist Shereen Abu Aqleh.

The session will last through July 8.
