Firefighters in Longyan City, southeast China's Fujian Province formed a “human bridge” to help evacuate local residents from a flood. Major floods have occurred in southern and eastern parts of China following days of heavy rain, prompting emergency response procedures by central and provincial government authorities. On June 15, the China National Commission for Disaster Reduction and Ministry of Emergency Management jointly activated a Level-IV emergency response to floods in the provinces of Fujian and Jiangxi, and dispatched work groups to guide local disaster-relief work.
