The French army said in a statement its Barkhane forces had killed almost 40 people on June 14, in an anti-terrorism strike in the border regions of Niger and Burkina Faso.
Over the weekend, armed men had killed at least 100 civilians in a rural district of northern Burkina Faso close to the border with Niger, a security source said.
