The Chinese government approved a national plan last year to develop improved farmlands with the aim of enhancing food production capacity. In northeast China's Jilin Province, the local governments, as well as a number of companies and farmers are working towards the goal of having 30,000 square kilometers of high-standard farmland by the end of 2022. As well as developing more infrastructures, the region is also promoting unmanned farming techniques.
