A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Saturday expressed sympathy to Lien Chan, former chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) party, and wished him a speedy recovery.

The mainland is highly concerned about Lien Chan’s heath, said Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, in response to a query regarding Lien’s illness.
