One person was confirmed dead after a fire broke out early Saturday morning at a petrochemical facility in southwestern Shanghai's Jinshan District.
The fire in the Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical plant was under control by 9 a.m.
Environmental monitoring of the company's adjacent areas showed volatile organic compounds are within normal levels, and no impact on the surrounding water has been found.
