The 18th International Meeting on Syria in the Astana format concluded on June 16 in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan. Syrian political analyst Sarkis Kassagian assesses the talks as positive. He says the U.S. remains the key factor in the current chaos in Syria by its illegal military presence in the country and its absence from the Astana process.
