Over 1.4 million residents of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have been affected by extensive heavy rain since early June. Rain-triggered floods have surged on some waterways, including the Guijiang, Xunjiang and Xijiang rivers. Local authorities in Wuzhou City have suspended operation of boats on its section of the Xijiang River since June 17. Downpours also battered many parts of Guilin City on Friday, triggering floods and damaging roads. In Yangshuo County, over 1,000 staff and students were reported trapped in three schools by rising flood water, and firefighters rushed to the sites with speed boats. The rescuers rescued all the trapped.
