Shenying Tiankeng, or the bottomless pit, is a giant karst sinkhole discovered by scientific researchers in May, increasing the total number of sinkholes in south China's Leye County to 30. China Media Group and the Institute of Karst Geology of China Geological Survey organized a joint scientific research team to explore the sinkhole. The scientific research activity started on Monday and lasted about one week.
