An Ilyushin Il-76 cargo plane crashed and caught fire while landing near the Russian city of Ryazan on Friday morning, killing four people and wounding a further five, the Interfax news agency cited a source as saying.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the cargo plane made a hard landing due to an engine malfunction, partially collapsed on the ground and the victims were taken to medical facilities.
