DP World Tour CEO Keith Palley announced on Friday that European golf's governing body has imposed a UK£100,000 ($123,000) fine on each individual member who played in the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series and has banned them from three upcoming events.
Citing a breach of regulations, Palley said sanctions have now been imposed.
"The sanctions are for the players that played in the LIV event at the Centurion Club without an official release from the DP World Tour. Those players will be sanctioned UK£100,000 and are not eligible to play in the Genesis Scottish Open or the Barbasol Championship or the Barracuda Championship," said Palley.
In addition to the six-figure fines, players will be barred from the Scottish Open (July 7-10), which is due to be held the week before the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews, and two events in the United States, the Barbasol Championship (July 7-10) and the Barracuda Championship (July 14-17).
The DP World Tour also said any subsequent involvement in the LIV Golf Series, the next event of which starts in Portland, Oregon, next week, may result in additional punishments.
Money raised from the fines will be shared equally between the prize funds of upcoming tournaments on the DP World Tour and the tour's charitable Golf for Good program.
Charl Schwartzel took home almost $4 million for winning the opening LIV event and for last place in the 48-man no-cut tournament received $120,000.
Last month LIV Golf chief executive Greg Norman made a commitment for the organization to pay any fines incurred by their participants.
