China sends aid to help Afghanistan recover from magnitude-5.9 quake

China sent humanitarian aid worth 50 million yuan ($7.5 million) to help Afghanistan recover from its recent earthquake. The magnitude-5.9 quake hit the impoverished Paktika Province in the east of the country on June 22, killing over 1,000 people. The first batch of aid from China, including tents, beds, blankets and food arrived in Kabul on Monday. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed condolences to Afghanistan.
