The Somali national army killed at least 40 al-Shabaab terrorists while carrying out military operations in the Middle Shabelle region, Somali National News Agency reported on Saturday.

Al-Shabaab is an extremist Somali-based organization associated with al-Qaeda. In recent years, it has launched several terrorist attacks in Somalia and its neighboring countries.
