Police in the U.S. state of Ohio chased an unarmed Black man on foot and killed him in a hail of gunfire, authorities said on July 3.

Akron police released video of the pursuit and killing of 25-year-old Jayland Walker.

They attempted to stop Walker's car for unspecified traffic and equipment violations, but the apparent shot from the vehicle turned the situation into "a public safety issue".

It was not clear how many shots were fired, but Walker sustained more than 60 wounds.
