Eighteen people were killed due to the unrest in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, an autonomous republic in northwestern Uzbekistan, local media Uzbekistan Daily reported on Monday, citing the General Prosecutor's Office.
Some 243 people were injured during the unrest, including 38 law enforcement officers, according to the report.
