Power has been restored to more than 90 percent of the 1.49 million households in southern China struck by the strong winds and heavy rain associated with Typhoon Chaba. The local power department had dispatched over 3,000 workers to repair its facilities and eliminate the hidden dangers of downed transmission lines. China Southern Power Grid initiated an emergency response, deploying 18,000 workers for disaster relief and repair work.
