110-year-old hydropower station remains functional in China

Shilongba, China's first hydropower plant, has been working normally since its first two generators were put into service 110 years ago in the western suburbs of Kunming City in southwest China's Yunnan Province. Initially built with the investments from a group of patriotic business people, the plant started operation on May 28, 1912. It was considered a historic moment in China, heralding the country's utilization of clean energy.
