As of July 4, two days after a floating crane sank off the coast of south China's Guangdong Province, 12 bodies suspected of being missing crew members have been recovered from waters approximately 50 nautical miles southwest of the accident site.

The local authorities are stepping up their efforts to identify the bodies, as rescuers continue searching for the 14 crew members still missing. Seven rescue helicopters, 246 ships and 498 fishing boats have been tasked with the search. Of the 30 crew members aboard at the time of the sinking, four have been rescued thus far. The floating crane's mooring chain broke when it sought to avoid Typhoon Chaba in a sheltered anchorage.
