Chinese shuttlers stormed their way into the first day of the Malaysia Masters 2022, claiming several victories in different categories in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.
In the men's singles qualification, China's Sun Feixiang outplayed Lucas Claerbout of France 9-21, 21-13, 21-18, and then defeated Azerbaijan's Ade Resky Dwicahyo 21-15, 21-17.
Another Chinese player Weng Hongyang had a 21-5, 17-21, 13-21 loss to local player Leong Jun Hao.
In the women's doubles, Chinese pair Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan defeated hosts Vivian Hoo and Lim Chiew Sien 21-17, 23-21.
And another Chinese pair Liu Xuanxuan and Xia Yuting steamrolled over American-Indian pair Ishika Jaiswal and Srivedya Gurazada 21-10, 21-10.
In another all-Chinese women's doubles match, Du Yue and Li Wenmei got the better of their compatriots Zhang Shuxian and Zheng Yu 21-17, 21-12.
In the men's doubles, Chinese pair Liu Yuchen and Ou Xuanyi suffered a 18-21, 24-22, 20-22 loss to Japanese duo Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi, who had won the Malaysia Open men's doubles crown last week.
Mixed doubles duo Feng Yanzhe and Lin Fangling lost to their Danish opponents Mathias Thyrri and Amalie Magelund in a 10-21, 17-21 defeat.
Chinese women's singles players are scheduled to play on Wednesday.
The Malaysia Masters runs until July 10 at the Axiata Arena and the prize money is $360,000.
