Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday congratulated Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra on the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Algerian War of Independence.

In a congratulatory message, Wang said China and Algeria formed a sound friendship during the Algerian War of Independence.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Algeria have always supported each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns, maintained close coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, and jointly safeguarded the common interests of developing countries, said Wang.

"I am ready to work with Foreign Minister Lamamra to further deepen the communication and cooperation between the two foreign ministries and take the China-Algeria comprehensive strategic partnership to new levels," he said.
