Nadhim Zahawi, the UK's newly appointed chancellor of the exchequer, on Thursday called on British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to step down, Sky News reported.

Education Secretary Michelle Donelan resigned on Thursday after succeeding Zahawi on the role two days ago.

A total of 55 officials have resigned from the UK government, according to the tally of Sky News.
