The United Nations (UN) is grateful for China's vital support for UN peacekeeping operations, a senior UN official said on Tuesday, praising China for its immense contribution to UN missions worldwide.

Speaking during an interview with China Media Group (CMG), Atul Khare, UN Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support, said that China's role in mandating, funding, and committing to UN peacekeeping missions should be commended.

He also noted that the soldiers and support personnel deployed by China on UN peacekeeping missions brought valuable skills and capacities that made UN peacekeeping safer and more sustainable.
