Tetsuya Yamagami, the suspect arrested, has admitted to have shot Japanese former prime minister Shinzo Abe, Nara Prefecture police told a press conference on Friday.

Yamagami said he had a grudge against a specific organization and thought Abe was connected to that organization, police said.

Several gun-like weapons have been confiscated at the suspect's home, police added.
