Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will gather ministers at 4:30 p.m. (0730 GMT) on Friday to discuss the response to the shooting of Shinzo Abe, Kyodo reported.
Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi said his understanding was that Abe is getting a blood transfusion and efforts are continuing to save the former prime minister's life.
