The British Conservative Party plans to choose a new UK prime minister by early September when the House of Commons returns from its summer break, the Financial Times quoted MPs with knowledge of the plans.
Boris Johnson announced his resignation on Thursday, triggering internal competition for the election of a new party leader, who will be appointed prime minister by the queen.
