In an interview with CGTN's Wang Guan, former Acting U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Susan Thornton said there has been an uptick in China-U.S. engagement, which is positive. But she warned that Taiwan remains "the most concerning flashpoint" in U.S.-China relations, which she said was in a large part due to the different political systems of the two countries.
