Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on Group of 20 (G20) members to practice the spirit of multilateralism into concrete actions to safeguard world peace and promote common development.

Wang made the remarks on Friday when attending the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Bali, Indonesia. The G20 is an intergovernmental forum comprising 19 leading economies and the European Union.

Highlighting adhering to true multilateralism, he said the G20 should stay committed to being "three partners." The G20 should be partners with mutual respect and consultation on an equal footing, be partners of peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, and be partners for openness, inclusiveness, and connectivity, he said.

He also touched upon the Ukraine crisis, saying that both Russia and Ukraine are friends of China and China expects the two countries to achieve peace through dialogue and consultation.

China has provided two batches of humanitarian aid totaling 15 million yuan ($2.24 million) to Ukraine, and will provide an additional 20 million yuan ($2.99 million) of emergency humanitarian aid in the near future, according to Wang.

NATO and the EU should engage in serious and comprehensive dialogue with Russia to jointly build a balanced, effective and sustainable security architecture in Europe, he said.

In promoting economic recovery, he said China hopes to coordinate macroeconomic policies with other parties to promote inclusive recovery and growth of the world economy.

China will continue to make development a priority area of G20 cooperation, and strengthen cooperation in poverty reduction, anti-epidemic, infrastructure and green development, he added.
