Sri Lanka's cabinet ministers will resign only after an agreement is reached on an all-party government, the Daily Mirror reported on Monday, citing the prime minister’s media division.

Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has confirmed that he will resign, the prime minister's office said on Monday, after tens of thousands of protesters stormed their official residences, setting fire to one of the buildings in a rage over the nation's severe economic crisis.

The parliament Speaker had earlier said the president would resign on 13 July.

Sri Lankan opposition leader Sajith Premadasa said on Monday that the opposition is ready to lead the country and develop the economy.

In a video statement released on the SJB's social media channels, Premadasa said his party is ready to lead a program aimed at bringing stability to the country.
